Taylor Swift wrote her very first song with a swear word in the title.
The pop star is gearing up to release her new album ‘Midnights’ in October and she played an online lottery game with fans to announce the tracklist with the singer filming herself choosing ping pong balls numbers that correspond to a track on the album – and on Thursday (09.22.22) she picked number eight and revealed the title to be “Vigilante S**t”.
This is the first time Taylor has used a swear word in one of her song titles, although she has used profanity in her lyrics before.
Taylor previously described the album as a collection of songs based on 13 sleepless nights over the past few years in which she got up to jot down the lyrics.
Announcing the new project, she wrote in a statement posted online: “This is a collection of music written in the middle of the night, a journey through terrors and sweet dreams. The floors we tread and the demons we are facing. For all of us who have tossed and turned and decided to keep the lanterns lit and go in search – hoping that maybe when the clock strikes twelve…we will meet.”
Taylor plans to continue announcing track titles for her “Midnights Mayhem With Me” series on TikTok. She debuted the series on Tuesday (20.09.22) and confirmed that the name of the 13th track on the album is “Mastermind”. She is expected to continue posting the videos until she has named all 13 songs.
“Midnights” is scheduled for release on October 21.
