A week ago, Taylor Swift took home a historic set of trophies at the 2023 MTV Video Music Awards. Among the categories she dominated, many of them were voted on by fans, allowing her to racking up votes from his devoted Swifties. Today, the singer urges them to bring the same energy to the upcoming elections.
“I was lucky enough to see so many of you at my US concerts recently,” Swift wrote in a recent Instagram Story. “I heard you raise your voice and I know how powerful it is. Make sure you’re ready to use them in our elections this year! »
The singer shared a voter registration link with her more than 270 million followers on the social platform. With the 2024 presidential election less than a year away, Swift is starting the conversation early. Swifties can even put their organizational skills to use with a twist, like making Eras tour-themed friendship bracelets to wear to the polls.
Swift is the latest pop star to join the growing list of artists using their massive Stan platforms to boost voter registration. Last year, voter registration nonprofit HeadCount teamed up with dozens of artists to encourage pop fans to register to vote and check their registration status . Through campaigns with Harry Styles, Ariana Grande, Megan Thee Stallion, Beyoncé, Billie Eilish, Paramore and many others, the organization has registered 150,000 voters.
“A lot of artists want their fans to vote, but don’t want to get into the partisan divide,” said Andy Bernstein, co-founder and executive director of HeadCount.
