Chepstow Race Tips
1.00: Press your luck 5/4
Chris Gordon and Tom Cannon have already had a few decent winners under their belts recently and this rookie chaser looks set to win again.
Won four of his 11 hurdle races as well as a point at the start, and has a good chance of winning this novice event at equal weight with his rivals.
However, he will have to face Flash Collonges, who for Paul Nicholls has already run on fences three times, including when he was away in a 2nd year last November.
He’s lost 12 pounds since his debut and after wind surgery, he still looks pitiable at this point, but the market might be the best indicator for that.
1.35: 11/4 cloth cap
Was a good punt for the Grand National, which was his last race, at 33/1 but was stopped early.
Jockey said after that he had a nosebleed and it turned out he had burst a blood vessel so the stroke could be forgiven.
Falls well in this veterans handicap pursuit at just under 3m and suits the Jonjo O’Niell pair in the colors of the late Trevor Hemmings.
Maximum weight, but that shouldn’t be a problem for this ten-year-old boy who still has plenty of stamina in him.
2.10: Present and count 4/1
It’s hard not to support this second favorite behind Quid Pro Quo in the market, rated higher than the others and at eight years old, he still seems to be finding his peak potential.
He has taken to returning to hurdles very well and has won by a huge distance in each of his last three races, including the last time at Worcester.
2.50: Collectible 5/4
Another combo Jonjo O’Neill who is only racing for the second time under this trainer and has a lot of potential and is well thought out in the yard, and was unlucky to finish second in his two outstanding races.
Newmarket Race Tips
3:00 p.m.: Pogo 3/1
Gives the favorite 3lbs, but his last run just behind Kinross is a good sign that his winning form can return here after he last came to this course and distance in June.
Under William Buick it’s a huge boost and could lead the race at Sacred which, in Cheveley Park colors, is as short as 11/8.
York Running Tips
2.40: Empire Mindset 1/11
Incredibly consistent and should give a good idea of that amongst a large field and excellent prize money each way which still sees him as a top contender with prize money starting at 8.
3.50: Pons Aelius 12/1
A huge prize considering the form he’s been in in various trips and classes and makes an attractive case wearing just 8-5, given 12 pounds of the rest, including favorite Nathanael Greene.
