Elmarko Jackson, a four-star point guard who holds a basketball scholarship offer from Syracuse, plans to whittle down his list of remaining suitors in the “coming days,” according to a report from college basketball insider Adam Zagoria.
The 6-foot-4 Jackson, who has received a flood of praise from national analysts and scouts for his performance on the AAU circuit in recent months, said not too long ago on social networks that he planned to reduce his list in the near future. .
Jackson said Syracuse head basketball coach Jim Boeheim watched him a lot in person during live times this spring and summer in grassroots basketball.
Additionally, a variety of reports and analyst commentary have spoken of Orange prioritizing Jackson in the rising senior class. However, a few recent articles about him don’t give me much optimism that the ‘Cuse will make his roster anytime soon.
Syracuse basketball offered four-star point guard Elmarko Jackson in April.
In his interview with Zagoria, Jackson said he’s likely to narrow down his list of those still in the running for him to “about seven” suitors.
Also in that article, Jackson named Maryland, Texas, Miami, Villanova, Virginia, UCLA and VCU among the college teams that recruit him the most.
Additionally, Jackson named a handful of teams that recruit him the hardest in an interview with 247Sports national analyst Brandon Jenkins.
This Jenkins piece is VIP exclusive content, so it’s not appropriate for me to share specifics, but I’ll just say that Jackson mentioned five teams, and Orange wasn’t one of them.
Last month, a story by Sam Lance on zagsblog.com talked about Jackson’s eight hardest-recruiting suitors, and at the time they were Miami, Maryland, Virginia, Michigan, UCLA, Ohio State, Indiana and VCU.
I’m not a recruitment analyst, nor am I part of Jackson’s inner circle. So I’m not going to sit here and say Syracuse basketball is no longer a contender for him.
We’ll find out soon enough, when Jackson reveals the teams still in the running for his recruiting.
Jackson, who recently jumped into the top 25 when On3 updated his 2023 national scores, is heading into his senior year, where he will compete for South Kent School in South Kent, Connecticut.
Unquestionably, he’s been one of the best all-around performers in recent months on the AAU tour, as he suited up for the Delaware-based WE R1 in the Under Armor Association league.
He was also one of a select number of high-flying players who were chosen to compete in the Under Armor Next Elite 24 showcase in Chicago.
His offer sheet, lately, has swelled to around 30. Hopefully Orange will stay in the mix when he whittles down his roster. But based on these three recent media reports, I don’t feel too good about ‘Cuse finally landing Elmarko Jackson.
