The New York Giants are 5-1 for the first time since 2009, and they don’t plan to change that now.

With the trade market starting to heat up ahead of the Nov. 1 deadline, the Giants’ plan is to stay on hold for now. Sources there say they are “keeping the big picture and the long-term plan in place” as they continue their surprising start to the season.

The Giants have just $3.9 million in cap space for the 2022 season, according to Spotrac. They’ve already had to rework the Leonard Williams deal to give them some breathing room this season, so bringing in a player with a decently sized contract is extremely unlikely.

As for the players they could offload via trade, it’s also on that front.

“Nobody” is bringing in receiver Kenny Golladay, who hasn’t even started a season and a half into his four-year, $72 million deal.

And the Giants are also not getting calls on second-year wide receiver Kadarius Toney, who they never shopped with to start. Toney has dealt with a number of hamstring injuries dating back to preseason and has only played two games and is trying to recover from another soft tissue injury.
