On Sunday, the NFL announced that Rihanna would be the 2023 Super Bowl halftime performer. Rihanna also made an announcement by posting a photo of herself holding an uncaptioned soccer ball.
Super Bowl LVII is scheduled for February 12, 2023 in Glendale, Arizona. It is not yet known if Rihanna will ask someone else to join her on stage. In the past, many artists have received special guests.
Roc Nation helps organize the halftime show and is also Rihanna’s management company.
Rapper Jay-Z, the boss of Roc Nation, played a vital role in finding Rihanna. After auditioning for Jay-Z, he said, “I knew she would be a star.”
In the NFL ad, they included a quote from Shawn “Jay-Z” Carter.
“Rihanna is a generational talent, a woman of humble beginnings who exceeded expectations at every turn,” he said. “A person born on the small island of Barbados who became one of the most prominent entertainers of all time. Self-taught in business and entertainment.”
NFL Music Director Seth Dudowsky called Rihanna a “one of a kind artist” and a “cultural force.”
“Rihanna is an incredible recording artist who is a favorite of millions of Apple Music users around the world,” said Oliver Schusser, vice president of Apple Music and Beats. “We’re thrilled to partner with Rihanna, Roc Nation and the NFL to bring music and sports fans a memorable show – what an amazing artist for the first Apple Music Super Bowl Halftime Show.”
Apple is now the halftime show sponsor, replacing longtime sponsor Pepsi.
Since being discovered, Rihanna has won nine Grammy Awards, created her own makeup line and her own fashion brand.
