According to a survey by the American Gaming Association, a record 50.4 million American adults, or 20% – about one in five – will bet on Super Bowl LVII. These adults are expected to bet around $16 billion on Sunday’s game between the Kansas City Chiefs and the Philadelphia Eagles.

Of course, all of this is facilitated by the legalization of sports betting in several US states. As a result:
- 30 million American adults are expected to place a traditional sports bet online, at a bookmaker or with a sportsbook, representing a 66% increase from 2022.
- Additionally, 28 million people will bet casually with friends in some type of pool or squares contest (a 50% increase from 2022).
- The AGA also determined that 34% of NFL fans said legalizing sports betting has made NFL games more entertaining.
The data was collected via an online survey on behalf of the AGA from January 31 to February 31. 1, 2023 and surveyed 2,199 adults.

“Each year, the Super Bowl serves to highlight the benefits of legal sports betting: bettors transition to regulated market protections, leagues and sports media see increased engagement, and legal operators generate needed tax revenue for states around the world. country,” said AGA President and CEO Bill Miller.
When it comes to bets specific to Super Bowl LVII, bettors are “evenly split on the outcome of the game” according to the AGA, with 44% each planning to bet on the Eagles and Chiefs. That leaves the remaining 12% likely placing bets on non-money line bets.
