6-Banner Sunday is Inside the Hall’s weekly newsletter in partnership with The Assembly Call. Over 9,000 Indiana fans receive the newsletter each week. In addition to appearing weekly on the site, you can also choose to receive 6-Banner Sunday via email. A form to register by email is available at the bottom of this week’s 6-Banner Sunday.
Welcome to another edition of 6-Banner Sunday, a joint production between The Assembly Call and Inside the Hall where we highlight the five most essential basketball UI stories from the past week, and take a look to how other IU sports programs are doing.
Another week and more sources are picking IU to win the conference. Real basketball is so close now that by the time 6-Banner is released next week, Hoosier Hysteria will have already happened. With the competition now imminent, Inside the Hall is hosting a series featuring a preview of each Big Ten team before games begin.
Looking back to the past week, more videos have been released from the Hoosiers media day. Additionally, another former Indiana player has signed a contract with the NBA. We will end, as usual, with an overview of the situation of other UI sports.

Banner #1 – Indiana chosen to win the Big Ten by another publication
With the first game of the 2022-23 basketball season about a month away, more posts have come out with preseason previews for the year ahead. The Almanac became the latest to list the Hoosiers as conference favorites. Meanwhile, in their latest rankings, Andy Katz and CBS Sports listed IU as their highest-ranked Big Ten team.
Despite expectations, Inside the Hall’s Amanda Foster has a story about how Cream and Crimson don’t pay attention to the hype.
Banner #2 – More details on Hoosier Hysteria
It has been known for some time that Hoosier Hysteria would be this Friday night and would coincide with football’s return weekend. However, more details about the event were announced this week. Start time will be 7 p.m., but students can line up as early as noon for a good seat once the doors open. Additionally, it has been confirmed that the G Herbo concert will take place after the men’s and women’s basketball team performances.
The action will have celebrity hosts like ESPN’s Courtney Cronin and current IU radio network analyst and former Indiana football player Rhett Lewis on the microphone.
Banner #3 – Inside the Hall’s Big Ten Team Previews
Inside the room, a series examines the perspectives of each conference team. So far, they’ve profiled everyone expected to finish near the bottom of the league as Maryland, Minnesota, Nebraska, Northwest and Penn State have been spotted. The teams that are expected to rank higher will be distributed in the coming weeks.
Banner #4 – More Basketball Media Day Videos
Indiana Basketball Media Day was 10 days ago and discussed in the previous edition of 6-Banner. However, in this publication, only Miller Kopp and Logan Duncomb had interviews published by Inside the Hall.
This week, more player discussions have been posted on the site. This included many of the team’s most veteran and influential players such as Jordan Geronimo, Trey Galloway, Trayce Jackson-Davis, Xavier Johnson and Race Thompson.
Banner #5 – Juwan Morgan signs with the Clippers
Last week, it was announced that Cody Zeller had signed a contract with Juwan Morgan’s former team, the Utah Jazz. Now Morgan himself has potentially found a new home even farther west by agreeing to the terms of a training camp deal with the Los Angeles Clippers. However, this type of deal is not guaranteed and it will have to earn its place on the list.
Seven other former Hoosiers also attend training camps for other NBA teams.
Banner #6 – Hoosier Roundup
• Football suffered a crushing defeat against Nebraska. It was also announced that the rematch this week against Michigan will take place at noon on Fox.
• Men’s soccer beat Northwestern to enter the win column in conference play. Additionally, former Hoosier great Drew Moore retired from professional football after 18 seasons.
• Volleyball had its best week of the season, knocking out a strong team from Maryland on the road and dominating a struggling team from Iowa at home. They also fought hard but fell yesterday to a highly ranked and much more talented team from Ohio State.
• Field hockey beat Rutgers to their first Big Ten win and Miami (OH) as they continue to enjoy their best season in some time.
• Women’s soccer had a tough time with dominating losses to Wisconsin and Ohio State. They were also without star goaltender Jamie Gerstenberg for most of those games as she received a red card early in the game against the Badgers, forcing an automatic one-game suspension against the Buckeyes.
• Women’s basketball is hosting a Candy Stripe Crew clinic on October 22. Additionally, the Hoosiers had another game on TV with the announcement of the Nov. 14 contest in Tennessee being on ESPN2 at 6 p.m.
• Men’s golf competed in the Windon Memorial Classic.
• Women’s tennis participated in the Hoosier Classic.
• Cross Country raced at the Paul Short Invite.
Thank you for your continued support of The Assembly Call and Inside the Hall. We’ll be back next weekend with another roundup.
