Succession season four FIRST LOOK

The first look at Season 4 of Succession has been released, with a trailer confirming there’s no shortage of drama as the hit series returns.

Production on the series began this summer and while an official release date has yet to be revealed, the show is expected to air next year.

Not much is revealed in the brief clip, but it’s clear that tension is still mounting within the Roy family as they continue to fight for control of Waystar Royco.

At the end of last season, the series came to a halt with ruthless Waystar CEO/family patriarch Logan Roy (Brian Cox) retaining control of his children: Kendall (Jeremy Strong), Roman (Kiernan Culkin) , Conor (Alan Ruck) and Shiv (Sarah Snook).

It seems Logan has no intention of giving in to his kids as soon as the teaser sees him shouting “This isn’t the end.” We kill the opposition.

Logan – who is standing in a newsroom keeps shouting – “I’m going to build something better, faster, lighter, wilder”. I really like it here! I fucking love it!’

The teaser clip comes after it was revealed that the show will be given a temporary reprieve from its usual location in the concrete jungle of Manhattan.

For season four, the Emmy-winning drama will move at least some of its business and family stabbings to the Scandinavian mountains of Norway, according to Variety.

The Norwegian setting will be the backdrop as the sale of media conglomerate Waystar Royco to tech mogul Lukas Matsson (Alexander Skarsgård) draws closer and members of the Roy family travel to Matsson’s homeland.

An official synopsis for the upcoming series reads, “In the 10-episode season four, the sale of media conglomerate Waystar Royco to tech visionary Lukas Matsson comes ever closer.”

“The prospect of this seismic sale is causing existential angst and family division among the Roys as they anticipate what their lives will be like once the deal is done.”

The synopsis concluded, “A power struggle ensues as the family contemplates a future where their cultural and political clout is severely reduced.”

Additional cast members have also been confirmed for the new season.

Season four comes on the heels of the huge success of season three, after HBO revealed last year that 1.4 million viewers watched the season three premiere across all platforms, which was a new record for the broadcast.

It was also the best nighttime premiere performance of any HBO original series since HBO Max launched in May 2020.

The season three premiere was also up 39% from the series premiere episode that aired in June 2018.
