Listen, I always support the underdog. Life is just more fun that way. Either way, the payoff of a winning underdog is always more glorious than the big winner. For example, when the Yankees won the World Series every year, it was always fun to find someone to bring down the Evil Empire. In wrestling, there’s no better pop than when a scrappy underdog like Daniel Bryan wins the championship belt. And in pop culture, nothing makes me smile more than when a struggling young actress like Sydney Sweeney graces the cover of TIME magazine.
Now, the last we heard of old Syd, she was financially ruined. You do not believe me ? Take his words for it:
Daily Thread – “If I wanted to take a six-month break, I don’t have any income to cover that,” Sweeney told The Hollywood Reporter in a high-profile interview. “I have no one to support me, I have no one to turn to to pay my bills or call for help.”
“They don’t pay actors anymore like they used to, and with streamers, you don’t get residuals anymore,” the “Euphoria” actress said. “Established stars always get paid, but I have to give my lawyer 5%, my agents 10%, my company manager 3% or something. I have to pay my publicist every month, and it’s more than my mortgage.
“If I was doing the right thing, I couldn’t afford to live in LA. I take business because I have to,” Sweeney said.
After the actress bought a house in Los Angeles, reportedly for $3 million, the location went live, she said.
“I couldn’t believe I was even capable of buying a house,” she says. “I want to be able to stay there.”
If you told me 2 months ago when I blogged that the same actress would be considered one of TIME Magazine’s “Next 100”, I simply wouldn’t have a clue what you meant. over there because no one cares about TIME Magazine anymore because the print media is dead unless you’re a regular at the doctor or dentist but you have to read US Weekly > TIME before the doctor shoves his finger in the ass for at least a new photo of Megan Fox walking down the street with a coffee to ponder.
But for real, I think it’s downright wonderful that the little actress was able to get there in such a short time. In July, she was pinching pennies to afford her $3 million mansion, and look at her now! Glowing!
I want this to be a lesson for all the little boys and girls out there – nothing is impossible. If a struggling, 2-time Emmy-nominated actress can overcome her obstacles like paying her agents and business manager, there’s nothing stopping you from achieving your dreams and landing on the cover of TIME yourself. If Sydney can do it, you have no excuse. #ThanksSydneySweeney
