Key events

Ellie is not the best dancer in this competition, BUT this partnership is pure happiness. She’s also come a really long way from Week 1 – her kicks and flicks are a little lackluster, but great timing and vibe for this Jive. I want to do their road trip.

Then it’s Ellie T & Johannes!

This week they’re dancing the Jive to Van Morrison’s ‘Brown Eyed Girl’. You know how some relationships have “a song”? When I was married, it was our song. I’m no longer married, but it still contains a lot of good memories. Anyway, thank you for witnessing this moment of therapy and be sure to join all SHA LA LA.

Ellie is very much in danger this week, but so far the public has saved her from the dance. Does she have the support to survive when we are down to six?

Scores: 8,9,9,9 – a total of 35 for Molly and Carlos.

Molly and Carlos just had crushes, and everyone in that room is yelling “noooo stop it” at the TV. Not heart hands fans here.

Anton saw what Molly could do for the first time, but Craig wanted more of a V-shape, but he liked the aggression and storytelling. Motsi liked the attacking content and style of the Tango, but would have liked more stretch in his neck. Shirley loved the passion and commitment – great work.

Yay, CGI vertigo! It’s a fierce tango from Molly, with lots of attitude and nice rhythm changes. His footwork is outstanding, I really enjoyed that. Newton lost interest halfway through.

It’s time for Molly and Carlos!

This week, they’re tangoing to Billie Eilish’s “Bad Guy.” Kelvin and Oti did a Halloween Tango at this in 2019 – it’s a fabulous piece for a Contempotango. Can Molly do intense tango drama? She’s a Sylvia Young alum, so let’s assume so.

It’s Molly’s 22nd birthday, so all of her Strictly friends are showing up to celebrate. I count that as a drink.

Scores: 9,10,10,9 – a total of 38 for Will and Nancy. The judges went early.

Shirley thought everything worked for Will – the choreography was outstanding and she thought it was fantastic. Anton thought it was Will’s best performance on the show. Craig didn’t like Will’s free arm, but everything else was fantastic – he loved it. Motsi thought he was setting the standard for the night – fast, smooth, athletic.

So many neon lights! Will and Nancy are on the deckchairs, and they somehow manage to make the Charleston look pretty cool. Some nice pivots from Will, but all a bit frantic and hard to see all the details. I love the energy though, and it’s a thorough, delicate routine. Great start to tonight’s show.

Newton thought that was great. Big fan.

First tonight is Will and Nancy!

This week they’re dancing the Charleston to Kula Shaker’s ‘Hush’. I love the idea of an indie rock Charleston, and if anyone wants to pull that off with a lot of energy and attitude, it’s Will.

Family accessories! BEVERAGE!
