For those outside of South Korea, the idea of a luxury Hyundai is relatively new. That said, the launch of the Genesis brand has firmly placed the Hyundai Motor Group in the luxury car market. With products such as the G70 Shooting Brake to the GV80, this also scared the establishment.
But in its home market, Hyundai has made several (relatively) large sedans aimed at VIPs and bigwigs. Some of these included the Grandeur, the Dynasty and the Equus which were briefly sold in the United States. If you have the time to take a look, you can tell that Hyundai has come a long way in defining luxury with the current Genesis lineup.
That said, Genesis still has a step to take to complete its lineup. With the electric crossovers ready, all it needs is a long-wheelbase version of its flagship sedan. In the case of Genesis, that would be something like some sort of G90 L. Unfortunately for those who want an ultra-stretched luxury limousine from the brand, it’s not available.
At least there are those who can reimagine and render a long wheelbase version of the G90. And given that the next generation has also been spied on, the extension of the next sedan has yielded some interesting results. If anything, it might even be worth it for Hyundai to add several inches between the wheels.
Rendering was done by the South Korean auto Youtube channel, Gotcha cars. According to the channel, they expect it to have a design similar to that of the G80. That means it’s more than likely we’ll see the look of the split headlights and taillights, as well as the slender front and rear windshields. Since the G90 is targeting Germany’s biggest flagship sedans, they’re also rendered in a way that’s inspired by a certain Sindelfingen megabuck limousine.
If Genesis were to succeed with an extended version of the next-gen G90, it would be the first stretched sedan made by Hyundai in over a decade. The last they made dates back over a decade with the Equus limousine. Given the success of the Mercedes-Maybach lineup, perhaps Genesis should consider an ultra-luxury version of its larger sedan.
