Nearly every format holder has now managed to leak a release date ahead of The Game Awards 20202, with Street Fighter 6 the latest victim.
After Steam leaked the Star Wars Jedi: Survivor release date and Microsoft leaked the Diablo 4 release date, it’s now Sony’s turn to spoil the surprises at The Game Awards 2022, with what seems to be the release date of Street Fighter 6.
You’d think that at this point people would learn to be careful, but clearly not, which is especially surprising for Street Fighter 6 as there was previously no idea of a release date other than next year. .
Not only is it a mistake video game companies keep making, but it’s also the fact that Street Fighter 6’s June 2 release date is almost exactly the same as Diablo 4’s.
Although they sometimes don’t know it, as was presumably the case here, publishers have a terrible habit of not publishing anything of importance for months, then everything in the same small window of time.
According to the leak, Street Fighter 6 was released on Friday, June 2, and Diablo 4 was released just three days later on Monday, June 5 (Blizzard games often release on a Monday).
Given that the two games aren’t similar at all, that’s not necessarily in conflict, but if you’re a fan of both series, it’s a lot of money to find at the same time.
The PlayStation Store leak also revealed that there will be Deluxe and Ultimate versions of the game, which isn’t a surprise, but not what their contents are.
Both games are also only a week or so away from E3 2023, but it remains to be seen how big next year will be, especially as The Game Awards has now become the premier preview event for the year.
Speaking of which, Capcom has confirmed that they will be at the event tonight. They didn’t say what they would show, but it’s almost certain to include Street Fighter 6 and the official reveal of its release date – which is how Sony updated its store page in the first place. .
