British rapper Stormzy has canceled the Australian and New Zealand legs of his tour and pulled out of his headlining appearance at the Spilled Milk Festival.
The British grime sensation was due to appear at the music, food and arts festival in Canberra, Ballarat and the Gold Coast in December, following gigs in Sydney, Brisbane, Melbourne, Adelaide, Wellington and Auckland.
But the 29-year-old said he had to cancel due to “circumstances beyond his control”, with rising US star Steve Lacy set to replace him at Spilled Milk.

“It is with the heaviest heart that I have to inform you that I have to cancel my international commitments for the remainder of the year, which includes my tour of Australia and New Zealand,” the Vossi star said. Bop in a statement.

The king of British rap, who last week won accolades for his new seven-minute release Mel Made Me Do It, originally planned his Heavy is the Head world tour for 2020, but it was delayed due to the pandemic of Covid-19.

Many Split Milk ticket holders were devastated by the news, with some wondering why he wasn’t replaced by another rapper.
Steve Lacy rose to prominence as a member of popular funk and soul band The Internet and had chart success with alternative R&B hits including Bad Habits.
“Steve Lacy, aka the coolest person alive, joins the lineup for Spilled Milk 2022 alongside Flume, The Wombats, FISHER, Spacey Jane and more. Steve will replace Stormzy as he unfortunately had to cancel all of his international tour dates,’ Split Milk’s Facebook read.
The festival will offer refunds for line-up changes. Tickets will go on sale again on October 6.

Hundreds of fans complained about the line-up change on social media, with one writing, “You’re kidding me.”
“I’m so angry,” added another, while a third said he was “emptied” and “beyond disappointed” by the news.
“I was going to see Stormzy. What a great start to the day. I don’t even want to go now,” wrote a disgruntled festival-goer.
Stormzy is the latest in a string of international stars to pull out of gigs Down Under.
When he kicked off his UK and Ireland tour in March, Stormzy delighted fans by sharing footage that appeared to show him recording new music.
American rapper Polo G pulled out of the Listen Out festival this month.
Half of English electro duo Disclosure have also pulled out of Listen Out to “take care of their mental health”.
