Stock markets today: European PMI indices, Goldman, Gucci, gold – Bloomberg

Good morning. European traders get a guide to how the region’s economies are faring with business figures due today, UK exports still lagging pre-Brexit numbers and Gucci struggling to find your way. Here’s what people are talking about this morning.

Flash PMIs from France, Germany and the Eurozone as well as those from the UK will dominate and could add volatility to trading this morning, after the FTSE 100 index closed at a record high on Monday. Investors will also await results later this week. European banking shares are trading at a six-year high, but could be revised higher if profits from bigger names such as Barclays, BNP or others disappoint. In the auto sector, Renault reports this week that investors are focusing on the demand outlook for electric vehicles amid fierce competition from Tesla and Chinese manufacturers, as well as comments on a potential partnership with rival Volkswagen to build jointly cheaper electric vehicles.
