To celebrate her status as one of the premier troubadours of her generation, Taylor Swift is getting her own “Written By” Spotify playlist and songwriter page.
Available now, the songwriters page lists more than 100 songs from Swift’s career while highlighting songs she’s written for and with other artists, including Little Big Town (“Better Man”). , Sugarland (“Babe”, co-written with Pat Monahan), Miley Cyrus (“Crazier” and “You’ll Always Find Your Way Back Home”, with Robert Ellis and Martin Johnsonrespectively), Ed Sheeran (“The Joker and the Queen” feat. Swift and co-written with Johnny McDaid, Sam RomanSheeran and Fred Gibson) and Big Red Machine (“Renegade” feat. Swift and co-written with Aaron Dessner).
Also listed are several songs Swift has written for movie soundtracks, including 2012’s “Eyes Open” (The Hunger Games), “Carolina” (Where the Crawdads sing), “Sweeter than fiction” (A chanceco-written with Jack Antonoff) and “Only the Young”, a song featured in his 2020 documentary miss american.
Swift’s songwriters page is perhaps most notable for its omissions. Only “Taylor’s Version” songs from his early albums Without fear and Red are featured, while exactly no cuts from his four Big Machine albums that have yet to be re-recorded – Taylor Swift, Speak Now, 1989 and Reputation – are represented. Additionally, Calvin Harris’ 2016 mega-hit track “This Is What You Came For” feat. Rihanna, who was co-written by Swift under a pseudonym, was not selected.
The unveiling of Swift’s Songwriter Page comes the same day she is set to be honored as Songwriter-Artist of the Decade by the Nashville Songwriters Association International (NSAI) at a ceremony to be held at Ryman Auditorium in Nashville.
Swift is just the latest major songwriter to receive a dedicated Spotify page. Others who have enjoyed this privilege include Mariah Carey, Missy Elliott, Miles Davis, Justin Tranter, Meghan Trainor, Wheezy Beats (Young Thug, Future, Drake), Shelly Peiken (Christina Aguilera, Bebe Rexha, Jessie J) and Alizz (Pison 21, Rosalia).
