This is the 53rd annual festival and will run until October 9.
SOUTHINGTON, Connecticut – Fall fun is on the menu at the 53rd annual Southington Apple Harvest Festival. The event kicked off tonight on North Main Street on Friday night and will run until October 9.
Locals return year after year for food and entertainment. FOX61 found a throng of locals and visitors lining up to get their hands on a festival favorite: apple fritters.
The stand is run by the Zion Lutheran Church and raises funds to support community causes such as providing meals to people in need and helping homeless veterans.

John Miller of Zion Church said they had been here for over 50 years and he had volunteered as a child.
“The first time I made donuts myself was when I was 12, it was with a small spoon and a fryolator. We’ve grown a bit since then,” he says.
The same goes for the queue, as some people lined up before the festival even started taking a dozen or two; the first customer arrived 45 minutes early.
