Murdaugh was reportedly shot in the head while having car trouble near Varnville, SC, around 1:30 p.m. Saturday.
Griffin said shots were fired from a truck that passed Murdaugh on the road and turned around as he worked on his car.

Murdaugh was airlifted to Memorial Health University Medical Center in Savannah, Ga., Where he was treated for a “superficial” gunshot wound to the head, authorities said.
On Monday, Murdaugh was released from the hospital, after which he immediately met with the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division, which is investigating both the murders of his wife and son as well as the shooting. , his attorney told the NYT.
