Sony’s partnerships continue to support the CI industry – CEPro

When CEDIA and the custom installation industry first merged in the late 1980s, it was primarily a conglomeration of many lesser-known niche manufacturers serving the market with unique solutions. However, a well-known brand, Sony, has been present since the beginning in partnership with integrators and other suppliers.

“Sony realized early on that its products needed to work well with other partners and platforms widely used in the industry,” said Jeff Goldstein, Sales Manager for Sony’s CI Channel. “Our goal has always been to stay very connected to the companies that provide these platforms and services that integrators use.”

This spirit of cooperation has remained in place at Sony for decades and continues vigorously today. Sony has a whole team in place that meets almost weekly to focus on developing and maintaining partnerships with other vendors. Often conversations about compatibility start at the sales level or escalate through Sony’s Dealer Advisory Group, both to the consumer side of Sony’s business and to its Professional AV division.

In the field of control systems, Sony has several ongoing partnerships, including:

Sony has achieved preferred partner status with Savant, which is particularly valuable for the integration of its displays and projectors. The partnership means that there is a deeper level of driver development in place for the Savant platform, which means that when an integrator deploys a Sony component within the Savant ecosystem, it is a transparent process.

It is essential that Sony remains connected to Snap One/Control4/OvrC solutions, not only upon release, but also during the product development process. Partners like Snap One get early access to Sony products to test new solutions with their control drivers. This foresight allows Sony to deliver a user-friendly and compatible system right from the start.

Crestron, Domotz and Josh.ai are other leading control and networking platforms that Sony works closely with.

In addition to having technical partnerships in place, Sony has also established key cooperative relationships on the marketing side. The company is working closely with One Firefly on a co-marketing program for its Diamond resellers that targets existing customers.

Sony has also established a marketing partnership with Kaleidescape, including a limited time offer offering a $1,000 rebate on any eligible Kaleidescape media server in conjunction with the purchase of any Sony TV or projector with an MSRP greater than $4. $995.

In another recent thought-out-of-the-box announcement, Sony and D-Tools have announced an exclusive partnership that provides direct access to Sony product specifications and real-time pricing via TechData, exclusively from within the D-Tools environment. Tools Cloud.

Sony not only focuses its partnerships on the major players in the industry, but also links with lesser-known solutions and platforms.

Goldstein says Sony considers all cooperative relationships seriously. In some cases, the initiation of cross-product compatibility is resolved in a quick conversation for a niche product. For major platforms, Goldstein says Sony likes to stay deeply involved.

“And there’s more news to come,” Goldstein says. “We are preparing to make announcements on new products and partnerships.”
