The knitted burlap creature Sackboy is coming to PC on October 27th, revealed a trailer released prematurely on Sony’s Latin American YouTube channel. The trailer for Sackboy: A Big Adventure has since been pulled, but by then the boy was out of the sack and his existence was noted on Twitter. There has been no further official confirmation of the PC game’s release date yet, nor from which storefronts it will be available.
Sackboy: A Big Adventure was originally released for PlayStation 4 and 5 in 2020 and is a spin-off from the LittleBigPlanet series. The platformer follows the adventures, of course, of Sackboy, doubling as he runs and jumps around Craftworld in his effort to stop Richard E. Grant. Dawn French is also there. Our sister site Eurogamer’s review of A Big Adventure for PS5 called the game a “joyful explosion of color and charm”, which makes it feel like it’s worth a look.
The hastily released trailer, which you can watch here for now, suggests that the PC release of Sackboy will see some features that take advantage of the hardware. These include support for 4K and 21:9 ultrawide monitors at 120FPS, Nvidia DLSS, and VRR. We haven’t seen anything yet about this alleged Sony PC launcher, which Graham reported on last month.
Sackboy isn’t the only PlayStation-exclusive console Sony has planned for PC before the end of the year. We already know that Uncharted: Legacy Of Thieves Collection will be released on October 19, and Spider-Man: Miles Morales is expected in the fall.
There’s also the prospect that Housemarque’s sinister sci-fi roguelike is also coming along. A SteamDB listing for the game was spotted in May, and now images of what appears to be a PC menu have appeared via the IconEra forum.
