Sony has been rumored to have new cameras to introduce before the end of Q1 2023, and now it looks like the ZV-E1 will be at least one of them.
As the name suggests, it’s currently being touted as a new camera for content creators with an E-mount lens; however, it may also have some advantages over its supposed E10 predecessor. It’s, for example, designed to incorporate the same sensor as the higher-grade a7s III, and may look more like it too (with “some FX3 elements”) thanks to a design overhaul since the ZV-1F.
It’s, for example, now depicted as having sprouted a new top-mounted Menu button, while its photo/video/S&Q mode button has become a slider. Internally, the “ZV-E1” would have carried over the new AI from the a7r V, along with an improved version of the autofocus (AF) from this new mirrorless unit. Despite these potential selling points, the upcoming camera is also said to tend to overheat.
Overall, this ‘new ZV’ is apparently touted as a potentially more premium take on the ‘Sony vlogging camera’, although it may compromise on the portable edge of its predecessors for more features; it is even said to have a thicker grip than the ZV-1 at this point. We may be lucky enough to find out for sure about its supposed debut on March 29, 2023.

I became a professional writer and editor shortly after graduating. My degrees are in biomedical sciences; however, they led to some experience in the field of biotechnology, which convinced me of its potential to revolutionize our health, our environment and our lives in general. Over time, this turned into an all-consuming interest in other aspects of technology: I can’t write enough about the latest electronics, gadgets and innovations. My other interests include imaging, astronomy and streaming. Oh, and coffee.
