Sony WH-1000XM4 photos leaked on Twitter, made in Malaysia – TechNave

When Sony launched the WH-1000XM3 in 2018, it seemed that the company had more or less perfected the formula of a wireless headset. But change and improvement are inevitable and WH-1000XM4 is expected to be launched this year. Earlier today, live photos of a helmet that would be the WH-1000XM4 were posted on Twitter.

XDA Developer Mishaal Rahman said a list for the headset was found on the Brazilian Anatel, which is the country’s telecommunications certification agency. What is interesting here is that the unit in the photos had a label stating that it was made in Malaysia. However, the strange thing here is that the label has the US FCC ID, so we don’t know if it’s a hoax or not.

That might turn out to be the real thing, but the source seems a little too sketchy for us to take it seriously. There is also no visible difference between the new WH-1000XM4 and the WH-1000XM3 that we can see, which means that we cannot use the design differences to determine whether it is real or not. All in all, it is best to take this piece of rumor with a healthy dose of salt.

Sony has not yet announced when the WH-1000XM4, nor provided details on what has changed in the new iteration. But if the company decides to use the WH-1000XM3 launch schedule, we could see the new model launched around August 2020. If you can’t wait, you can also get the WH-1000XM3 for as low as RM899 on some ecommerce sites now.

When do you think Sony will launch this new model and what kind of improvements would you like to see? Let us know on our Facebook page and follow us on TechNave.com for more updates on Sony products.
