The Sony WH-1000XM4 headphones could be closer than we think. Images of the upcoming noise reduction boxes, fighting Bose, have surfaced online and reveal a familiar design, but potentially double the battery life of the Bose 700.
Twitter user Everton Favretto Shared images from an Anatel list for a pair of Sony WH-1000XM4 headphones that look like an updated version of the critically acclaimed Sony WH-1000XM3.
Sony has not actually confirmed that it is working on a follow-up of a pair of best headphones right now. But as a Brazilian version of the FCC, an official Anatel list could mean that the Sony WH-1000XM4s have the green light to hit stores.

The Verge first reported the leak of Favretto’s M4 and noted how the included user manual discloses the differences to be seen in the next generation of Sony’s best audio device.
The biggest upgrade seems to be the battery life. It seems that the Sony WH-1000XM4 is designed for 40 hours of autonomy, against 36 hours for M3. Bose 700 headphones, on the other hand, are designed for 20 hours of battery life.
The manual also notes a feature called “ talking to the cat, ” which is likely a way to call a voice assistant like Google Assistant or Alexa without having to press the action button found on M3s.
Although this manual is probably a draft, it is reasonable to believe that the M4 will go from Bluetooth 4.2 to Bluetooth 5, which offers a wider range of connections and better energy efficiency: the energy consumption has gone from 8W to only 2W.
There are no details on price and availability, but we imagine the Sony WH-1000XM4 will cost around $ 350. This is the retail price of the Sony WH-1000XM3, as well as the price of the Sony WH-1000XM2 when they are first launched.
