Carnage had its cinematic debut in the Venom post-credit scene, with Woody Harrelson playing serial killer Cletus Kasady, whom comic book fans know was meant to bond with the symbiotic offspring of Venom and become a super villain .
We will see his bow play in Venom 2, which is currently in production and where Tom Hardy’s Eddie Brock will face Kasady.
Reportedly, those who said Spoilers would be revealed as a traitor in The Rise of Skywalker and The National Treasure 3 were under development, which turned out to be true – that the studio liked what they saw Carnage in Venom 2 and is impressed with Woody’s performance.
Given that, they want to do a spin-off that will focus on his character and apparently the concept is that it would be more of a horror film set in the present where he kills people like Carnage, as well as flashes go back to his past and explain how he had become so disturbed.
It’s no surprise that Sony is keen to make a direct spinoff from the franchise. And Carnage has such a status in the Marvel universe that he could probably wear his film.
Venom 2 could even set up this derivative film to some extent. Details of the intrigue disclosed indicate that Eddie managed to link Kasady to the destruction of an orphanage that the killer lived as a child.
This surely tells us that the sequel will touch somewhat on its origins, that the spin-off will then apparently expand and expand.
