It has been announced that a flagship PlayStation franchise will be turned into a live service game. Let’s find out which…
So if you didn’t know who brought God of War to PC, let me enlighten you: it was Jetpack Interactive. Now we say that the the same studio was tasked with turning a flagship Sony IP into a live service game. If you’re not sure what that means, think Fortnite: a game that will be updated forever and never get a sequel.
Sony launches a major game with live service
The idea is not far-fetched, after all, Ubisoft is betting on the same principle with the next live-action Assassin’s Creed. Also, knowing that the talented people who ported God of War are taking care of it gives me a lot of hope. The fact is, however, that we only know from a leak and we have no idea which IP Sony has chosen to go on forever. More precisely, a LinkedIn post is the source of the leak:
We are now working directly with Sony to develop one of their flagship IPs within their highly anticipated live service gaming portfolio. If you’re excited to be part of a small, skilled SWAT team that creates some of the best AAA games, we’re sure you’ll love working at Jetpack.
Since Jetpack also refers to the franchise in question as a “prized IP”, this must be a big deal. God of the war? Ghost of Tsushima, Uncharted? It’s all guesswork at this point, but it’s certainly exciting to think about.
