Sony music labels announced on Saturday that the singer-songwriter Kiro Akiyama had already been released after his arrest on November 23 for alleged assault and battery. The company added that Akiyama’s legal counsel reported, and later confirmed, that Akiyama would not face charges in the near future.
Sony music labels said there were discrepancies between the initial report of the incident and Akiyama’s later account, but it will work with him to “rebuild trust.”
Shortly after Saturday’s announcement, the 123rd my hero academia episode aired with Akiyama’s song “SKETCH” still playing as the current ending theme.

Tokyo Metropolitan Police have arrested Yūya Arai, the singer-songwriter better known as Kiro Akiyama, for alleged assault of a female acquaintance on Wednesday, November 23 shortly after midnight. The 26-year-old suspect allegedly caused bodily harm to the woman in her 20s at her apartment in Shibuya.
According to the police investigation, problems developed between Arai and his acquaintance just before he pulled the acquaintance’s hair and other acts. Police said at the time the suspect admitted to the charge.
