Sony drama by Kevin Hart Paternity is heading for a summer outing. In addition to being shown on one of the most popular streaming services, Netflix, the project will also be part of the production company Higher Ground, owned by former president Barack Obama and Michelle Obama.
Hart commented on social media, “I’m so happy to announce that my new drama ‘Fatherhood’ will be released on @netflix on June 18th just before Father’s Day… .It’s a passionate project… The movie is amazing… . It gave me an opportunity to change the narrative about the “black father” stereotype…. As a black father, I take pride in trying to be as present as possible in my children’s lives… I am not the only black dad to do this… .there are so many of us. Seeing a movie like Fatherhood is as important as hell. I’m also happy to partner with President Barack Obama and his wife Michelle Obama’s production company, “Higher Ground Productions”… .It’s HUGE !!!!! “
Paternity, will be directed by Paul Weitz and is based on the book Two kisses for Maddy: a memory of loss and love by Matthew Logelin. The project, based on a true story, follows Hart as a single father who raises his daughter after the unexpected death of his wife a day after the birth of their child.
The adorable Melody Hurd has been hired to star alongside Kevin Hart as his daughter.
You may remember we first got a glimpse of Hurd in 2017 when she and her sister Lyric Hurd went viral as they performed to Zay Hilfigerrr and Zayion Mcall’s hit song “Juju on That”. Beat ”. The pair even appeared on The Ellen Degeneres show, who therefore paved the way for their careers.
Be sure to mark your calendars. Paternity is scheduled to premiere on Friday, June 18, just before Father’s Day.
