Sony announces the SRS-XV900, a powerful Bluetooth party speaker – Gadgetguy.com.au

Party speakers are all the rage, and Sony has a new one: the SRS-XV900, the brand’s loudest X-series Bluetooth speaker to date.

Omni-directional audio is a big draw here, with the SRS-XV900 spreading sound to all sides to fill a room. It is designed to deliver deep bass while generating strong mid and high frequencies through six tweeters distributed across the front, sides and rear of the speaker. Designed for all-night raves, expect 25 hours of battery life from the speaker, with just 10 minutes of charging required for a three-hour session.

Karaoke fans can plug in a microphone to pump out tunes, and guitarists can use the extra input slot to use the SRS-XV900 as an amp. For even more performance options, you can download the Sony Fiestable app to layer vocals via dual tracking. Self-harmonizing, anyone? Fiestable and Sony | Music Center apps also allow for custom playlists, speaker lighting control, and audio effects to change your voice or add echo.

Connectivity-wise, the SRS-XV900 lets you connect up to 100 compatible Sony Bluetooth speakers for synchronized sound across multiple devices. This could come in handy for large house parties that take place in multiple rooms at once. Another feature that guests may find useful in addition to Bluetooth phone connectivity is the ability to charge phones through the speakerphone. Also, it supports music playback via USB connection, if you prefer a wired system.

One thing to note with the SRS-XV900 is that it’s portable in the sense that you can use its handle to slide it around – not the portable Wonderboom 3, mind you. It does mean, however, that it can be moved to where the party is and then brought back to the living room to be used as a makeshift TV soundbar. No matter what brand of TV you’re using, you can take advantage of the speaker’s TV Sound Booster mode via an optical cable, providing an enhanced audio experience over your TV’s built-in sound.

Releasing in Australia from mid-October, the Sony SRS-XV900 party speaker will retail for $1,299.

Between Sony, Ultimate Ears, Soundboks, and countless other audio brands, you’re spoiled for choice with party speaker options. Naturally, what’s best for you depends on your budget, purpose, and the size of your preferred speaker. The SRS-XV900 seems to be a direct competitor to the Soundboks, for people with a bit of cash who want something big, bass and powerful.
