Do you remember when Pete Davidson and Ariana Grande dated? Well, it looks like Pete Davidson is reminiscing about his old flame on his latest show.
Bupkis shows an exaggerated version of Pete’s life and takes an interesting twist throughout the season as you learn more about the comedian and what he’s going through. Of course, just as the title of the show suggests, some of these things absolutely didn’t happen. However, this scene looks like the one our parents would re-enact if they were in the same place.
In the third episode of the show, which you can watch on Peacock right now and which was co-written by Pete and Judah Miller, Pete freaks out over a picture of him that’s all over the internet (hint: go to his Wikipedia page) . But as he tries to find a way to eliminate her, his mother, played by Emmy winner Edie Falco, talks to his manager, Evan, about what’s going on in his life.
As Evan reveals his plans to propose to his longtime girlfriend, Edie’s character, Amy, makes a big mention of a song Ariana Grande wrote about her former fiancé.
“Do you want to get engaged? Peter was engaged once. I don’t know if you heard about how it happened,” she said. “Do you want a song written about you? And the worst part is that I like the song, you know? It’s like an earworm. It has a very catchy hook.
The first song that obviously comes to mind is “Pete Davidson” by Sweetener, but considering that she warns him about writing a song about you, it could actually be a reference to “Thank U, Next” from the album of the same name. And yes, we agree, it’s still super catchy.
Ari isn’t the only one of Pete’s flames to be mentioned on the show. His ex Carly Aquilino makes an appearance as herself in the fifth episode of the series. Meanwhile, Pete’s current girlfriend and Bodies, bodies, bodies costar Chase Sui Wonders appears throughout the season.
And because this show is obviously a comedy, it looks like Pete is having fun with his exes throughout the show. He may even be listening to the song right now.
