Sir Elton John spoke about her experience teaching her two children, Zachary, ten, and Elijah, eight, at home.

“It is not easy!” the 73-year-old admitted, as he spoke to ITV News Artistic writer Nina Nannar. “We’ve been here since May… It’s very difficult, but they’ve been amazing.

“We are in a situation which I hope gets better with the vaccination of people, but we just have to pray that the situation will improve because people have been through terrible ordeals.”

Elton shares her two boys with her husband, David Furnish; the couple have been together since 1993 and welcomed Zachary through surrogate mother in December 2010, followed by younger brother Elijah, born in 2013 to the same surrogate mother.

Despite their father’s extraordinary fame, they do everything they can to keep their boys together.

In a rare personal interview with the Guardian in 2016, Sir Elton remarked: “I’m their father, I’m famous, they live amazing lives. David and I talk about it all the time, we are fully aware of the pitfalls that could come.

“They are spoiled in the way they live and in the way they live, but they are not spoiled with the rules they have to live by. They get £ 3 spending money, but £ 1 is for charity , £ 1 is for saving and £ 1 is for spending, they get three coins and put them in separate jars.

“And they have to work for it – helping in the kitchen, helping in the garden. They have to learn the value of doing something and earning something for themselves.”

“Saturdays when I’m home we go to Pizza Hut with them, we go to Waterstones, we go to the movies. I have never been a recluse, I have never hidden myself. I am on the run. “
