Simon Jordan insists Manchester United will soon eclipse Man City’s record £613million revenue once Erik ten Hag’s side get back on the winning streak

Simon Jordan believes Manchester United will soon eclipse Manchester City’s record earnings once they get back to winning ways.

After winning their fourth Premier League title in five years last season, the Citizens have posted record revenues of £613million.

It is the second highest figure in the English club’s history, with only the Red Devils raking in more after their £627m in 2019.

United’s revenue rose by £43.2million on the previous year, with Pep Guardiola’s side posting record profits of £41.7million three years ago.

City ten’s commercial income has risen from £271.7m from the 20/21 campaign to £309.5m thanks to a stable of 46 sponsors.

By contrast, United’s revenue for the 21/22 season was £583m, with the club announcing a net loss of £115.5m.

But Jordan said as soon as Erik ten Hag’s men start winning top honors again, they will find themselves ahead of their boisterous neighbours.

Speaking on White and Jordan, the former Crystal Palace chairman said: “I say Manchester City are doing remarkably well, they are doing remarkably well and they are developing as a football club.

“But they have a lot of levers to pull, Man United is one thing and one thing only… Manchester United.

“They don’t have ten other football clubs in the world…”

Speaking, Jim White remarked: “No, but Manchester City’s brand of football has eclipsed United’s brand.”

To which Jordan replied, “Where are they [City] doing very well in Asia, and they are using the opportunities they have there.

“If Manchester United won the league, do you think Man United would draw more numbers than that? Because I bet they would.

“Man United can get 95% of Man City’s turnover and earn everything to do it.

“Now when they start winning again, what they do, it might not be this year – clearly not this year – it might not be next year and it might not be the year after.

“But like everything else, it happens in cycles, Man United will find their balance.

“And Manchester United, like cream rising to the surface, will rise to the top.”
