Signings we can’t wait to see from Gabriel Jesus at Arsenal to Yves Bissouma and Darwin Nunez from Liverpool who should be an ‘outstanding success’

This summer’s Premier League transfer window has seen the arrival of some of football’s biggest stars and some shock changes.

From Newcastle United enjoying their new found riches, to Chelsea missing out on several targets in Barcelona, ​​the transfer window gave fans real entertainment as they missed watching their teams week in and week out.

Amidst the chaos, there have been a few select transfers that have really grabbed the headlines as clubs prepare for the 2022/23 season.

But which of these star Premier League signings will turn heads and make a real difference to their new teams?

And who will become the stars fans can’t take their eyes off?

5. Yves Bissouma – Brighton and Hove Albion to Tottenham Hotspur

Antonio Conte’s Tottenham have definitely struck while the iron is hot with Yves Bissouma.

The now former Brighton man caught the eye of the Premier League big boys for some time, having a stellar run of campaigns and becoming a longtime member of the Seagulls starting XI.

Alternating between playing in the defensive midfield role or playing a more central role under Graham Potter last season, Bissouma’s ability to read the game is truly impressive, with him fearless to win the ball over his opponents.

And Spurs snatched him from the AMEX at the right time, paying just £25million for the highly rated star as he had one year left on his contract.

Bissouma will also help Conte’s side offensively, given his ability to regain possession and get his team up the pitch, which will inevitably help link the ball to Tottenham’s exciting attacking trio – currently Harry Kane, Heung -min Son and Dejan Kulusevski.

Although the Italian manager is unlikely to change his style from having a two-man midfield, Bissouma has played in such a setup before, so while his role may differ slightly, he is bound to step up the attacking game and defensive of Tottenham.

4. Raheem Sterling – Manchester City to Chelsea

Chelsea have struggled to secure their goals this window, but the addition of former City winger Sterling is something all Premier League fans – not just those who follow Chelsea – should be looking forward to seeing.

Now on his third Premier League club after spells at Liverpool, City and now Chelsea and of course his time in the English setup, Sterling’s abilities are already widely known.

However, the £50m man will be exciting to watch this season given his lethal goal threat and versatility, which will help the Blues who rely on attacking midfielder Kai Havertz and Timo Werner, who is potentially on the move.

With the ability to play on both wings, Sterling offers Chelsea a boost with his ability to dive into the box – although he’ll likely play on the right given Mason Mount is best deployed on the left.

And he’s sure to get along well with Reece James.

But he could also lead the Blues line, his adaptability – which he shaped at City – making him vital in the Blues’ push for the title next season.

Given that Sterling will be working to cement a place in England manager Gareth Southgate’s starting XI for the World Cup in Qatar, he is likely to be ready and eager to prove himself at Stamford Bridge.

With 109 top goals already to his name and already scored in pre-season against Udinese, playing for Thomas Tuchel could see Sterling achieve his best season yet.

3. Gabriel Jesus – Manchester City to Arsenal

Jesus has already proven he is going to be a marked improvement on current Lyon striker Alexandre Lacazette, with the Frenchman scoring just four times last season.

Leaving City on a £45million transfer fee after failing to secure consistent playing time with the Premier League champions, the Brazilian has already been on fire for the Gunners, scoring a whopping eight goals.

With a brilliant ability to press down and help his teams maintain a high defensive line, Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta has had Jesus in mind in most of their games this summer.

A four-time Premier League winner and averaging a goal every 160 minutes, Jesus knows exactly how to play like a champion, which is what Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal need.

Could this be the season we really see Jesus’ potential, which was potentially untapped at City, unlocked?

2. Darwin Nunez – Benfica to Liverpool

If there were any fears over whether Darwin Nunez would sink rather than swim on his big move to England, Saturday’s Community Shield game showed the Uruguay international is ready for action.

As a replacement for Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp against City last weekend, all eyes have been on the former Benfica star, with former Anfield skipper Graeme Souness backing him to be an “outstanding success”.

After scoring four goals in the Reds’ clash with RB Leipzig in the summer, Nunez was in top form at the King Power as he was unleashed in City’s half, banging on the door for a goal as soon as his arrival.

And finally his well-deserved chance came, with him putting the ball in the net in the 94th minute.

His ability to play alone up front, giving Liverpool the ability to kick balls into the box so he could carry on and his consistent energy is perhaps what Liverpool lacked.

With long-serving winger Sadio Mane now gone, Nunez’s arrival in the Liverpool attack will be fascinating as he adjusts to a move to England after lighting up the Primera Liga.

And fans should be eager to see how the £85m signing pans out as Liverpool try to beat City for the title this time around.

1. Erling Haaland – Borussia Dortmund to Manchester City

Of course, you can’t forget the star signing of the summer – Erling Haaland.

The exciting youngster has become an icon since capturing the world’s attention at Borussia Dortmund, and signing for Premier League champions Manchester City has been the main event of this transfer window.

But what fans should be really excited about is to see if a player like Haaland will work in Pep Guardiola’s side.

After scoring a colossal 61 goals in 66 Bundesliga appearances during his time at BVB, it seems silly to question Haaland’s abilities.

But Saturday’s Community Shield saw him miss out on a babysitter by his standards, although that was just down to rust.

It seemed crazy that City went without a senior striker last season, but playing with false nines seemed like the perfect cure for eventual champions City.

However, they will have to adapt to Haaland and give him a lot more ball, if Saturday’s 3-1 loss to Liverpool is any indication.

So for such a hot prospect to take such a big step, fans will inevitably have their eyes on how the Norway international is doing.
