Significant statistics | UFC 279: Chimaev vs. Diaz

Key statistics: 8.24 shots received per minute (1st all-time), +3.05 hit differential (1st all-time among WW), 55% takedown accuracy

What this means: Rodriguez is a super sharp striker with particularly good boxing, and once he finds his range he likes to pour it with pressure and volume. He doesn’t lash out, but he maintains a steady stream of strikes on his opponent once he backs them up against the fence. He has a quick shot and he is also good at countering shots. He can get a takedown or two to mix things up, but most of his work is done with his hands.

What to look for in combat: Between the two, Rodriguez is more of a pressure fighter while Holland likes to maintain the distance when he can. That said, Holland does a better job of imposing his frame and length at 170, and he can become a limb puzzle for smaller opponents to navigate. Footwork is key in this match, and although both men identify as forwards, they will struggle to get out of their game early as neither has suffered a professional knockout. Both have submissions to their name, but it could be a gripping, fast-paced battle for as long as they want.
