Singer, actress, makeup mogul and multi-platinum fashion icon Selena Gomez revealed she got her hands on her own 2015 Met Gala dress in a new Vogue video.
Gomez sat down with Vogue for a new Life In Looks segment, where she recalled her best (and worst) fashion moments from 2007 to today.
When she turned the page on the 2015 Met Gala evening, where she wore a white Vera Wang gown, Gomez remembered it like it was yesterday. The 28-year-old remembered how uncomfortable she felt about herself back then and how she combated that feeling.
“I fluctuate a lot with my weight and I particularly remember that night,” she recalls. “I didn’t feel good in my body. So what was really amazing was that I got the chance to work on the dress that suited my body. I had a great time shaping this dress. I think we’ve come together and built something really beautiful and something that looks really good on me. It was one of the times I was like, “I don’t need to have this 19-year-old body shape anymore because I’m not.”
As Gomez searched the archives last month and found a valuable video of herself singing Britney Spears ‘2000 song “Don’t Go Knockin’ on My Door,” she revealed just how great the superstar of pop had also had an impact on her fashion choices. Gomez said her 2016 Revival Tour opening outfit was inspired by Spears’ sheer, sparkling bodysuit in the music video for her 2003 Grammy Award-winning dance-pop album “Toxic.”
“It’s so hard to shoot and when you’re a woman, because you have all this pressure to add multiple looks throughout the show and you want it to explode, but you have to make it comfortable for yourself and realistic to dance to or play in, “she said.” I’m not going to lie, Britney Spears inspired it from ‘Toxic’, so I wanted to find a moment where it could have its place. “
