Selena Gomez made the ultimate rookie move by trying a multitude of Australian dishes for the first time.
The 28-year-old shared a teaser for her HBO cooking series Max Selena + Chef, which showed her trying some of our iconic dishes, including Vegemite and Tim Tams.
The clip features chef Raquelle Stevens, helping her try out some of the treats sent to her by celebrity Australian chef Curtin Stone.
“Chief @CurtisStone shared a few of her favorite Aussie treats with me, and let’s just say … Vegemite isn’t my favorite. Get ready for Twitter Cook Along today at 4 p.m. PT, ”she wrote on Twitter.
The box of treats included mint slices, violet crumble, Tim Tams, Anzac cookies and of course, an entire jar of Vegemite.
While munching on mint slices, Gomez and Stevens described them as “like Christmas,” while Gomez was already a fan of Tim Tams, having been sent by his Australian fans.
Then comes Tim Tams, whom Gomez has already eaten thanks to the “die-hard Australian fans” who gave them to him.
Gomez wasn’t a fan of Violet Crumble but our ANZAC cookies got her approval.
But it was Gomez’s tasting of Vegemite that was enough to make Australians shrink in disgust.
“I’m very hesitant, I’m trying the Vegemite,” Gomez said.
“Do they use it for their sandwiches or something?”
The singer is seen picking up a spoon from the pot and, unsurprisingly, was instantly brushed off the yeast spread.
“I’m so sorry Australia I love you guys so much… it has nothing to do with you,” she said.
