Bielsa’s men are one point ahead of West Brom, who could only manage a draw at Swansea, and six points behind Fulham, third.

It has been 16 years since Leeds played football in the Premier League and they even went as far as League One.

But city defender Laporte said he would see Bielsa next season by giving the Leeds boss a signed shirt.

In response to photo of teammate City Benjamin Mendy alongside Leeds man Jean-Kevin Augustin, Laporte posted the image of him alongside Bielsa.

He captioned it: “And another … #MOT @LUFC next season” with a crossed emoji with your fingers.

However, Bielsa is not as confident as Laporte, admitting to feeling the pressure with nine games left in the 2019/20 season.

He said, “Yes, but depending on the results as well. Maybe the competition ends in the last game or maybe before.

“We have 27 points left. We don’t know how many points we will need, but we have nine games / chances to get the points we need.

“Of course there is anxiety until we get what we are looking for, but it is for all the teams in the league.

“Also, for the team that competes best. Regarding this point that you mentioned: this is the assessment that we must make before the end of the competition.

“The most important thing is what happens when the competition starts to get to the finish line.

“A few months ago, we had 11 points of difference and we lost this difference. What we have to do is wait until the end to see what’s going on, but, of course, we appreciate that reality. “
