The Jimmys are back. In the passenger seat of this Australian-spec Ford Mustang Gen2 Supercar race car sits a comedian and The show tonight host Jimmy Fallon. The other seat is taken by Ford CEO and part-time race car driver Jimmy Farley, although we suspect he might prefer Jim. Based on the video preview image at the top of the article, you can guess how this leisurely ride on a race track went.
The mischief happened at Concourse M1 about 30 miles north of Detroit in Pontiac, Michigan. After getting dressed, they head into the ‘Stang with Farley promising a few slow warm-up laps to start. It doesn’t last long, and while Fallon certainly puts on a show for the camera, we suspect there were a few legitimate moments of dread, or at the very least restless worry.
As for Farley, he seems to be enjoying himself. Despite running one of the world’s largest auto companies, Ford’s full-time CEO still enjoys racing and occasionally slips out of the office for a while on the track. Having the ability to race was part of his deal with the CEO, and it seems he’s no stranger to a high-output race car…although he told Fallon he had no idea. what he was doing.
For those scratching their heads over a Mustang Supercar, it’s not a supercar in the same vein as Lamborghini or Ferrari. The Australian Supercar Championship is a racing series not unlike NASCAR, although the action takes place on road courses instead of ovals.

Ford has previously campaigned the Australia-specific Falcon sedan in the series, which is why the Gen2 Mustang race car featured in this video looks a bit odd. Going from the Falcon to the Mustang, the chassis is carried over from the Falcon, so it’s not a clean sheet configuration for the S550 Mustang body. That will change with the new Gen3 Mustang Supercar, unveiled earlier this year.
Will Fallon get another ride in the new race car? After this experience with Farley behind the wheel, perhaps the best question is, does he want to a?
