It’s a heartbreaking video, and be aware that there is a bit of strong language, but you would probably have a few choice words if someone shot you. The good news here is that, as far as we know, there weren’t any injuries as a result of this intense showdown and the villains didn’t win the award. This is because this helmsman handled the situation like a scary boss.
There’s a lot about this incident that we don’t know, but here’s what we do. According to the description in the YouTube video above, it was a CIT vehicle circulating in Pretoria, South Africa on April 22. He was attacked by an unknown group of criminals in an Audi sedan. The driver takes evasive action immediately when heavy shells hit the vehicle, shattering the bulletproof glass on the driver’s side. He almost casually hands an assault rifle to the passenger as he continues to escape, eventually turning around about halfway through the video to confront the attackers head-on.
Further shots hit the vehicle, this time from the passenger side. The driver asks the passenger to call a few people while continuing to escape. There is a collision that brings the vehicle to a stop, followed by some frantic maneuvering to try and clear the area. We can see other people in the back of the vehicle, probably armed and waiting to defend themselves if necessary. We don’t know if that happens, as the video ends with the vehicle seemingly centered and the driver exiting to take a stand against the thieves, gun in hand.
A report of Live time says the potential thieves fled at this point. The report also states that there were two suspicious vehicles and that the armored car was in fact a reinforced Toyota Land Cruiser. Suddenly all of those armored vehicle upgrades that we see every now and then make sense.
In all cases, Live time does not mention any injuries to the occupants of the Toyota or to passers-by. However, the attackers fled and are apparently still at large.
