Super-producer Scott Rudin, who is one of the few people to have achieved EGOT status for his illustrious career in film, theater and television, is the subject of a damning new exposure by Hollywood journalist who recounts his alleged abusive behavior to his employees. These staff, many of whom spoke on condition of anonymity, allege that rampant abuse and “mistreatment” was the norm while working for Rudin, which included physical altercations. A former aide, for example, alleges Rudin threw a baked potato in his head in 2018 after being caught off guard with a possible reunion. “I went into the kitchen and was like, ‘Hey, Scott, the A24 is going up. I don’t know what it is, ”he recalls. “And he turned around, like, ‘Nobody told me the A24 was on my schedule.’ He threw it at me and I dodged a large potato. He was like, ‘Well find out and bring me a new potato.’ “In 2012, THR alleges that Rudin “smashed an Apple computer screen” on an assistant’s hand after the assistant “failed to find him a seat on a sold-out flight”. The assistant had to see a doctor quickly and went to the emergency room.
“Every day was exhausting and horrible,” recalls a former assistant, who worked for Rudin from 2018 to 2019. “Not even the way he abused me, but looking at the way he abused people around me. who started to become my very close friends. You spend 14 hours a day with the same people, experiencing the same abuse. It has become that collective bond with these people. Another former aide claims that Rudin “relished the cruelty” and “hundreds and hundreds of people suffered” from his abusive behavior. Rudin declined to comment THR on the allegations made against him.
