Scotland made history after being promoted to UEFA Nations League Group A after earning a 0-0 draw against Ukraine in Krakow.
Securing a place in the Euro 2024 play-offs, the tartan army had a major hint that it would be their night after just seven minutes when Andriy Yarmolenko missed an open goal from six yards out.
The former West Ham United star was leading the line for Ukraine in Krakow in a clash his country must win in order to edge ahead of the Tartan Army by securing promotion to Group A.
The 32-year-old, who now plays for Al Ain, was played by Mykhalio Mudryk after some good work down the left flank, slotting the ball through the penalty area forward.
Unfortunately, Yarmolenko got the wrong effort from six yards out as he sent his effort flying over Craig Gordon’s crossbar.
The keeper came on just six minutes into the clash, but according to Scotland Women’s captain Rachel Corsie, the ex-Hammer will want to forget.
Speaking on talkSPORT 2 commentary, Corsie said: “I can’t believe he missed. The whole goal is gaping and he has so much quality he just needs to cushion it in the net.
“It’s a huge dropout for Scotland.
“I’m not sure why the baseline is so far out there, but Yarmolenko is wide open and needs to score that.
“She’s an absolute keeper and a warning sign for Scotland.”
Ukraine certainly got the most out of the game in Krakow with Taras Stepanenko coming close twice.
However, a resilient defensive display from Steve Clarke left the Ukrainians frustrated and earned promotion to Nations League Group A where they will replace rivals England after relegation this week.
