Scarlett Johansson and Channing Tatum star in Fly Me to the Moon, produced by Apple and Sony – Gamereactor UK

The film Fly Me to the Moon was a nightmare during its creation. It was originally planned to star longtime friends and Marvel co-stars Chris Evans and Scarlett Johansson, with Jason Bateman named as director, but Bateman later left due to creative differences and the process of finding a director replacement taking longer than expected, Evans had to drop out as well. This ultimately meant that Channing Tatum had to step in and take over Evans’ role while Greg Berlanti had to sit behind the director’s chair in Bateman’s place.

Regardless, with all that in mind, Fly Me to the Moon managed to get made, and it’s now gearing up to make its debut. The film will follow a marketing executive (Johansson) and a launch director (Tatum) hired by NASA to create a fake moon landing during the space race in case the real mission fails. The film was once dubbed Project Artemis, but has now revealed its title as it awaits its July premiere.

With Fly Me to the Moon releasing on July 12 (and eventually on Apple TV+, likely thanks to its co-production between Apple and Sony Pictures), you can see the film’s trailer below, along with its synopsis.

Synopsis: “Scarlett Johansson and Channing Tatum star as a 1960s publicity shark and by-the-book launch director on a mission set against the high-stakes backdrop of the Earth’s historic moon landing. NASA.”
