The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration has begun releasing satellite images of areas in southwest Florida damaged by Hurricane Ian.
In an interactive map released Friday, parts of Caya Costa, Captiva and Sanibel Island were shown. The Cape Coral and Fort Myers areas along the Caloosahatchee River were also.
The images clearly showed that several vacation destinations on Sanibel Island were particularly affected by the storm. Using satellite photos courtesy of Google Earth last year, these interactive sliders reveal the extensive damage done.
