Samsung to build 5G network with Spark in New Zealand – ChannelNews

Samsung Electronics has committed to participate in the construction of the Spark 5G network in New Zealand.

Spark, which is New Zealand’s largest mobile operator, announced in late 2019 that it plans to launch 5G mobile and wireless broadband services in larger centers starting in mid-2020. The provider offered its first 5G wireless broadband services in select locations in September of last year.

Samsung was a key part of the first 5G tests performed at Spark Labs in 2019.

We hope Samsung will implement the scalable solutions necessary for cost-effective deployment.

For example, Samsung will supply compact MIMO Massive radios designed to save space on the tops of towers. Samsung’s Massive MIMO radios have already been rolled out across the country by three mobile operators in Korea and are expected to hit the market in Japan later this month.

Samsung also offers other components for 5G, including the chipset, the radio and the cloud-to-core platform for medium frequencies (2.5 GHz / 3.5 GHz) and mmWave (28 GHz / 39 GHz).

The latest deal adds to Samsung’s experience in marketing 5G – the company has supported the deployment of 5G in Korea and the United States and is currently working on the 5G network in Japan.

“One of the main reasons we chose Samsung was their new 5G radio solutions, which offer improved network capabilities, high quality connections and cutting edge technology,” said Rajesh Singh, managing director of management. of the value of Spark New Zealand.
