Samsung launched a smartphone in South Korea with a removable battery, microSD card slot and even a 3.5mm headphone jack. Are you surprised to see such a Samsung smartphone? Well, the smartphone is none other than the Galaxy Xcover 5 which was launched in the international markets last year.
The Galaxy Xcover 5 is a compact and robust smartphone intended for use in the field. It has a 5.3-inch IPS LCD screen with HD+ resolution. It has an IP68 rating for dust and water resistance and a MIL-STD-810H compliant design for shock resistance. The phone uses the Exynos 850 processor, 4GB of RAM, 64GB of internal storage and a microSD card slot (up to 1TB).
It has a 16MP camera with autofocus on the back and a 5MP front camera. The Galaxy Xcover 5 can record 1080p video using its front and rear cameras. Its connectivity features include LTE, GPS, Wi-Fi 5, Bluetooth 5.0, NFC, and a USB Type-C port. It is powered by a removable 3000mAh battery and supports fast charging up to 15W.
The Galaxy Xcover 5 is priced at KRW 275,000 (about $231) in South Korea, and it comes in two colors: black and white. Samsung offers free coupons for e-learning courses with the Xcover 5.
