Samsung is rumored to include this new Apple, Huawei feature with the Galaxy S23 lineup

A little over a week ago Apple has launched its Emergency SOS feature on the iPhone 14 series. iPhone 14 users in the United States and Canada facing an emergency without the ability to connect to cellular network, Wi-Fi or a hotspot their operator’s mobile access will be able to look up to the sky for help from above. In other words, iPhone 14 users will be able to connect to a satellite that will help them send a message to emergency services or to Apple-trained specialists who will relay the message to the proper authorities.
Huawei has limited satellite service for users of its latest flagship Mate 50 series. Using the Beidou satellite navigation system built in China to circumvent US bans on GPS, Huawei’s satellite service will allow users to send (but not receive) text messages in an emergency. The system is only accessible to those outside of mainland China.
Apple has reached an agreement with the satellite communications company Globalstar. Now we learn that Samsung has reached an agreement with Iridium, a communications company that uses its 66 satellites in low Earth orbit to provide voice and data connectivity to satellite phones. Iridium and Samsung would have reached an agreement and the word of the Korean ETNews is that the upcoming Galaxy S23 series will also feature satellite connectivity.

The report says Galaxy S23 users will be able to send text messages and small images via satellite. He also notes that Samsung expects this feature to work well in North and South America, Europe, Russia, and China. The company also believes that satellite service will be in demand in areas where cellular infrastructure is still precarious.
Whereas Apple and Huawei has the competitive edge for now, Samsung is expected to announce the service as early as this year ahead of the announcement of the Galaxy S23 series.

Satellite connectivity isn’t the only thing Samsung fans are excited about. The Galaxy S23 Ultra is expected to feature a 200MP image sensor different from the ISOCELL HP1 made by Sammy and used on the Motorola Edge 30 Ultra and Xiaomi 12T Pro.
