The South Korean smartphone maker has started rolling out Material You for its stock apps. However, not all apps have been revamped with the new design. Now, the company has started rolling out another Galaxy Store update that adds the dynamic Material You app icon.
According to a report from Sammobile, the update comes with firmware version 6.6.09.62 and features a white shopping bag icon with a bright pink background. The new icon dynamically changes its background color based on the palette of the active wallpaper.
Indeed, the update brings Samsung users closer to Google’s Material You experience which is currently limited to Pixel devices.
Those who didn’t receive the update also tried to shift their smartphone’s date to February 7, 2023, and the trick worked. They received the Material You dynamic app icon for the Galaxy Store, the report adds.
Users can also disable the appearance of the Material You dynamic app icon from the settings.
Samsung Galaxy Store
Samsung has the Galaxy Store which is limited to Galaxy devices only. Users will need to create a new Samsung account which will be used for both Samsung Cloud and Galaxy Store. The main function of the Galaxy Store is to provide apps that belong exclusively to Samsung. It also helps to update pre-installed Samsung apps like Gallery, Notes, Contacts, and others. Moreover, it also updates apps which are not available on play store. In short, it is not possible to update Samsung exclusive apps through Play Store.
