Samsung invites Indian startups to create health wallets and solutions for its products – The Statesman

Samsung on Thursday invited local startups to collaborate on technologies around the “Digital India” stack, including Unified Payments Interface (UPI), Digilocker, Open Network for Digital Commerce (ONDC), Open Credit Enablement Network (OCEN ) and Unified Health Interface (UHI). ), among others.

The company said its R&D centers and business units in the country will work closely with these startups to co-build solutions for a specific product or service, which has the potential to be integrated into the ecosystem of company products.

“We want to collaborate with startups that have leading technologies in this space, which when integrated into the Samsung ecosystem can transform the lives of people, our consumers,” said Dipesh Shah, CEO of Samsung. R&D Institute Bangalore.

Samsung said it will also explore financial support for some of these startups to help them further develop their solutions.

Last week, the company held a “Startup Collab” event at the Samsung Opera House in Bangalore, where around 25 startups gathered and interacted with Samsung management from its R&D centers in Bangalore and Noida, and its corporate headquarters. in Gurugram.

“Co-prosperity is one of our core values ​​and we hope to play our part in improving the innovation ecosystem in the country, thereby fueling ‘digital India’,” said Dr. Balvinder Singh , Head of Open Innovation Group, Samsung R&D Institute Bangalore.

Samsung engineers will also provide these startups with technical mentorship as well as advice to protect their intellectual property.

A successful startup is currently powering Samsung’s local app store in India, where consumers can discover and access their favorite mobile apps in 12 Indian languages.

Another startup powered “Lock Screen Stories” on Samsung Galaxy smartphones. This feature has nearly 30 million daily active users, the company said.
