The Samsung Group is present in almost every corner of the market, from smartphones and televisions to medicines and cargo ships. Galaxy smartphone users are usually unaware of the company’s reach, but Samsung is a conglomerate that makes many technological advancements possible inside and outside South Korea.
However, not everything Samsung does is about modern technology, and most customers are probably unaware that the Samsung Group trains guide dogs for the visually impaired. Samsung runs the only guide dog training institution in South Korea to be certified by the International Federation of Guide Dogs in Britain.
Today, the Samsung Guide Dog School in Yongin, about 50 km south of Seoul, held a ceremony for eight guide dogs who were handed over to their visually impaired partners. The dogs trained for two years and passed rigorous tests. Each of them will now act as friends and pairs of eyes for visually impaired partners for the next ~seven years. At the same time, the company’s guide dog school also held a retirement ceremony for six guide dogs, all of whom served their partners for six to eight years. With their work done, the six retired dogs can now enjoy life as pets without responsibility. Well done, Samsung!
