If you’re using a Galaxy Watch device, the Samsung Health app gets a welcome boost. Samsung Health’s latest update brings a themed icon to Android 13, along with support for Google’s Health Connect tool.
Samsung Health’s latest update for Android unlocks themed icon support on Android 13.
As we detailed earlier in a roundup of every app that supports themed icons, Samsung Health technically already has a themed icon on Android 12, but it’s powered by Samsung’s launcher rather than the app. herself. Now, you’ll see the Samsung Health themed icon on Samsung devices running Android 12 or Android 13, as well as Pixel phones.
Along with that, this update also unlocks Samsung Health support for Google’s Health Connect initiative.
Health Connect is a service that Google first announced earlier this year as a way to move health and fitness data between different apps and services. This was in order to be able to transfer data, for example, from a Withings scale to the Samsung Health app. Or switch from the Samsung app to Google Fit. This should be a useful service once fully launched.
Only a few apps have added support for Health Connect so far, including Withings Health Mate and Sleep as Android. Now Samsung Health is also adding support for Health Connect, even adding a menu for the service to its own settings menu, as our Dylan Roussel was soon spotted. But you can’t do anything with this feature at the moment. Obviously, however, an official launch appears to be imminent.
