Samsung’s Galaxy S22 line came out in early 2022, and they’re still some of the best Android phones out there. After the launch of the company’s latest foldable devices, it’s time again for us to start thinking “Galaxy S” as we eagerly await what’s next: the S23 series. Aside from some vague rumors about what’s changing (or not) regarding the cameras and internal hardware, we don’t know much about Samsung’s upcoming flagships. However, that might start to change soon, as new CAD renders attempt to give us a (very) early look at the upcoming Galaxy S23 and Galaxy S23+.
Renowned Leak OnLeaks is behind a set of renders for the Galaxy S23 and Galaxy S23+, the first published on Smartprix and the second on Digit. Both phones feature almost identical design changes: the iconic rear camera bump that was present in the Galaxy S21 and S22 phones is gone, and in its place we see a design similar to the Galaxy S22 Ultra and previous Galaxy phones. the A-series, like the Galaxy A13.
The rear panels here are completely flush, with the individual camera sensors protruding from the rear. However, we’re still only looking at three cameras, so don’t expect an Ultra-level camera setup here – there will still be an S23 Ultra phone, after all.
As for the specs, reports are conflicting over whether or not the devices will use Exynos chips, and the Galaxy S23 line can run the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 globally. Aside from the likelihood that the S23 Ultra might get a 200MP camera rather than the 108MP sensor Samsung currently uses, overall it looks like a modest generational upgrade.
These phones aren’t expected to debut until at least the first quarter of 2023, but we’ll likely learn more about them over the coming months as new details continue to come in.
